China has initiated legal proceedings with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) over an additional 10% tariff imposed on Chinese goods, vowing to fight till the end.

The Commerce Ministry in China announced this yesterday.

The ministry stated that the “unilateral imposition of tariffs by the United States violates WTO rules and undermines the foundation of China-US economic and trade cooperation.”

According to the State media, Xinhua News Agency, the ministry expressed Beijing’s “strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition” to Washington’s actions.

A spokesman for the country further hit back at U.S. President, Donald Trump, stating that the fentanyl issue was just an alibi to raise U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports.

Speaking further, Beijing vowed to fight till the end on any war front. Whether tariff war or trade war.

“If war is what the US wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war, or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight till the end,” it said.

Beijing further expressed its stance, stating that they are not scared of intimidation as bullying, coercion, or threats do not work for them and are also not the way to deal with China.

They said, “Intimidation does not scare us. Bullying does not work on us. Pressuring, coercion, or threats are not the right way of dealing with China. Anyone using maximum pressure on China is picking the wrong guy and miscalculating.”

They however expressed that the right way to solve the fentanyl issue is for the U.S to treat them as equals.

“If the U.S. truly wants to solve the fentanyl issue, then the right thing to do is to consult with China by treating each other as equals.”

“China will resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests in accordance with WTO rules, and defend the multilateral trading system and the international economic and trade order,” the ministry said.

Recall that last week the U.S President Donald Trump announced an additional 10% tariff on China effective on Tuesday atop a 10% tariff already placed on Beijing in February.

In a tit-for-tat move, China has also decided to impose additional tariffs on certain U.S farm products, the State media reported.
