The King's Music Room: Davido featured on King Charles Playlist

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, known as Davido has been named among a few select artists featured on King’s Music Room.

The King’s Music Room is an exclusive playlist personally curated by King Charles III of England.

The playlist, which will be unveiled in celebration of Commonwealth Day 2025, highlights musical talents from across the Commonwealth.

The playlist reflects the monarch’s diverse tastes in music and shows his appreciation for Global sound.

Davido joined a list of other legendary artists like Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, Grace Jones, and Raye, to feature on the playlist.

In a statement released by Buckingham Palace on Friday, King Charles III shared his inspiration behind the playlist while emphasizing the profound impact music has had on his life.

According to the King, music has meant a great deal to him, stressing the subtle ability of music to bring back happy memories and provide confidence in times of sadness.

“Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me. It has a remarkable ability to bring back happy memories, provide confidence in times of sadness, and transport us to distant places.”

While stressing the joy music can bring to one’s soul, the King mentioned how music can also help to lift up spirit to an incredible degree.

“Above all, it can lift our spirits to an incredible degree. In other words, it brings us joy,” the King said.

The King further stated that he wanted to share songs that brought joy to him, hence his desire to share them on Commonwealth Day as it seems meaningful and interesting.

“I wanted to share the songs that bring me joy, as it seemed an interesting and meaningful way to celebrate Commonwealth Day. Thank you for listening — I wish you every possible blessing,” he said.

The King’s Music Room is expected to introduce a broader audience to the rich sounds of Afrobeats and other musical influences across the Commonwealth.
