Kendrick Lamar dominates at the 2025 BET award

American rapper, Kendrick Lamar Duckworth stole the show at the just concluded BET award held at the Peacock Arena in Los Angeles on Monday. An event that celebrates black actors, singers and sports stars, hosted by Kevin Hart.
The rapper who doubles as a producer won five out of his 10 nominations including the best album for GNX and the video for ‘Not Like Us’. He also won the prize for video director of the year alongside filmmaker, Dave Free.
While delivering a speech, Lamar said that “BET has always made sure they’re representing the culture right and always put me in the midst of the cycle of what we represent.”
Other winners include, Ayra Starr who won her first-ever BET award, taking home the Best International act award.
Her win comes after missing out on previous editions. She defeated other big shots like Tyla and Rema to take home the award, however she lost her other two times nominations – Best New Artist to Leon Thomas and Best Female R&B/Pop Artist to SZA.
