The Nigeria Immigration Service operatives arrested an Enugu based native doctor accused of ritual killings.
The native doctor who is identified as Levi Obieze, also known as ‘E de play, e de show’ was declared wanted by the Enugu State Police Command for alleged involvement in abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killings.
The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Namdap, confirmed the arrest via a statement released by the Immigration Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, titled ‘Nigeria Immigration Service confirms arrest of notorious crime suspect, Obi Levi Obieze.’
The statement reads in full; “Through credible intelligence, Obi Levi Obieze was apprehended by vigilant men of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Lagos State Border Patrol Command, at Gbaji checkpoint, along Badagry-Seme Road while attempting to flee the country on a motocycle.”
Obieze, is alleged to have been involved in the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl on Tuesday.
Reports indicate that the Umuojor village in Isiagu Community, Enugu State, where Obieze is a resident was thrown into a frenzy on Monday following the discovery of two decomposing bodies of pregnant women in a soakaway pit of a native doctor.
This linked to the kidnapping of the teenager who was walking with her father to the farm, days earlier.
According to report two men on a motorcycle abducted the girl after they feigned a technical fault by the roadside.
A source revealed that, “She was walking with her father to the farm on Monday when two men riding on a motorcycle stopped and pretended that their motorcycle had developed faults.”
“One of the men told the father of the girl to please help them with his cutlas to use and fix the fault in the motorcycle, which the man obliged. They said the fault would require pushing the bike and begged him to help.”
“It was in this process that one of the men grabbed the girl and jumped onto the motorcycle, and they zoomed off.”
The local police and vigilante groups started searching for the girl after an alarm was raised.
The search party approached the premises after residents reported hearing screams from Obieze’s compound, however the native doctor reportedly tried to stop them.
The vigilante groups overwhelmed him, searched through the compound and successfully rescued the abducted girl from his clutches.
Two decomposing corpses of pregnant women in separate soakaway pits were recovered during the cause of the search, leading to an uproar in the community.
The community members were seen dragging and parading naked Obieze in a video shared on social media.
The native doctor who is popular for his ostentatious display of wealth and money spraying at public events was reportedly on the run alongside his four wives before his eventual capture.
According to Akinlabi, “He is currently in custody and his identity has been confirmed through a National Identity Management Commission enrollment found in his possession.”
“During initial questioning, he admitted to the alleged crimes.”
Reaffirming its commitment to border security, the NIS, says it is working in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force to handover the suspect and carryout further investigation.
