E-Money walks free from EFCC custody

Business mogul and Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, known as E-Money has been released from Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody after series of interrogations relating to alleged Naira and Dollar abuse.

E-Money was reportedly arrested by the EFCC in Lagos and transported to their office in Abuja where he was interrogated before his release.

According to the EFCC, his arrest originated from allegations of naira abuse and mishandling of foreign currency. Where he was seen spraying of US dollar at an event. An act that violates Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange Act according to authorities.

In line with section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, the anti-graft agency has ramped up enforcement of currency laws in recent months. The act prohibits defacing of mishandling of both the naira and foreign currency.

Following his release from the EFCC custody, E-Money took to his Instagram page to address his followers.

The businessman posted a video of himself where he appeared calm and composed while seating in an aesthetically decorated room with gospel music playing in the background.

A video he captioned, “No tension, everywhere good. I see all your love and support. God bless you all.”

The background music suggested his gratitude to his creator for saving him. The music included the lyrics: “Thank you for saving me, thank you, my lord.”
