Breaking News: E-Money arrested over alleged Naira abuse

Popular Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, widely known as E-Money has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly abusing the Naira.

According to a report on Vanguard, the arrest was made on Monday in Lagos.

E-money is facing allegations of Naira abuse and defacement of foreign currencies which is linked to his alleged act of spraying US dollars- an offence under Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange Act.

According to the EFCC, it has commenced preliminary investigations and plans to charge E-Money to court upon concluding its inquiry.

The alleged currency spraying took place at a social event in Lagos. However, details of the occasion remain undisclosed.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale has however declined to comment on the arrest although credible sources within the Commission have confirmed the arrest and the ongoing investigations.

E-Money has been flown to Abuja for further interrogations by EFCC investigators.
