Dolly Parton and Husband, Dean
American singer-songwriter and actor, Dolly Parton has lost her husband, Carl Dean.
Carl Dean, who is aged 82, died on Monday after nearly 60 years of keeping their private life out of the spotlight despite Dolly’s fame.
Dolly met her husband, Dean, in 1964 outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat in Nashville, Tennessee on the day she moved to the country music capital.
While sharing the loss of her husband in a post on her X (formerly Twitter) handle, she expressed the love and many wonderful years spent together.
“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years.”
“I was surprised and delighted that while he talked to me, he looked at my face (a rare thing for me).”
“He seemed to be genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about,” she said.
The couple married two years later in 1966. It was a simple ceremony that was only graced by Paton’s mother, the preacher, and his wife.
The deceased, who is a Nashville native worked as an asphalt paver while his wife’s career rocketed to earn her the title of “queen of country music.”
The duo enjoyed a simple private lifestyle with Dean managing to stay away from the cameras.
During an interview with People Magazine in 2015, Dolly said, “We like to get out in our little RV and just be simple.”
“I love to read, I love to cook, I love to be with my husband.”
According to the post on her X handle, Dean will be laid to rest in “a private ceremony with immediate family attending. The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time.”
Dean is survived by his siblings, Sandra and Donnie.
