Former participants of the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality TV show have nothing but praise for the transformations the platform brought into their lives.
Speaking in separate sideline interviews at a birthday celebration for BBNaija host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu in Lagos, the ex-housemates expressed deep gratitude for the career boost and exposure the show provided.
Ebuka, who now serves as the show’s iconic host, revealed that BBNaija played a pivotal role in his career switch from law to television.
According to him, if it wasn’t for BBNaija he would probably be somewhere practicing his (lawyer) profession.
“It [BBNaija] definitely made me a TV presenter. I was never going to be doing this. It was not in my trajectory,” he said.
“I was a lawyer, and I was going to be practicing somewhere today. But I went into the Big Brother house and discovered that I have this thing about speaking. Without BBNaija, I wouldn’t have a career in television today.”
Mercy Eke, a former BBNaija winner, praised the show for reshaping her entire identity.
“Big Brother Naija changed me, changed my brand, changed my whole existence. I think you can see it right here,” she declared.
Actor Gideon Okeke also acknowledged the show’s role in catapulting him into the limelight.
“Big Brother Naija brought me out to the world, now you know who I is. Otherwise, I would be in the ghetto,” he said.
TV host KimOprah praised the platform’s global reach, stating that, “BBNaija is an amazing platform; it showcases you to the world. Honestly, you can only go up from there.”
Another former winner, Laycon, described the show as a major catalyst for his music career.
“It took it (My career) off the roof,” he said.
Actress Bisola Aiyeola admitted she always believed she would succeed in the entertainment industry but credited BBNaija with speeding up her journey.
“Big Brother Naija escalated the success that I knew I was going to have either way, but the reality show took it like a zillion steps faster to the top,” she said.
Actor and filmmaker Elozonam added, “Big Brother Naija elevated my brand. It gave my brand exposure.”
