Mad man arrested for stabbing man to death in Niger
A mad man, simply identified as Mubarak, has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for stabbing a 25-year-old man, Shamseen Danshehu, to death.
The spokesman for the State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the death of Danshehu on Monday.
He noted that the incident took place on Sunday evening in the Kwangila area of Minna, the state capital when Mubarak was said to have engaged Danshehu in a fisticuffs during which he allegedly stabbed him in the chest.
The victim was rushed to the nearby Minna General hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
The residents who said they did not know what caused the fight however said they always saw Mubarak in the street moving from place to place scavenging in residents’ refuse containers.
Abiodun stated, “It was reported that one Mubarak, who is suspected of insanity and also scavenging around Kwangila, had a fight with a passerby, Shamsu Danshehu 25 years of the same area.
“During the fight, the said scavenger stabbed Shamsu on the chest with scissors.
“The victim was rushed to the general hospital but gave up the ghost in the hospital and confirmed dead. The suspect was arrested for further investigation.”
