“Bonnie and Clyde” actor, Gene Hackman, wife found dead

Hollywood legend, Gene Hackman has been found dead alongside his wife, Betsy Arakawa and their dog at his residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
While confirming the death of the ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ actor, the Santa Fe County Sheriff in New Mexico said that, “we can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found deceased Wednesday afternoon at their residence on Sunset Trail.
“This is an active investigation – however, at this time we do not believe that foul play was a factor.”
“On 26 February 2025 at approximately 1:45 p.m., Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an address on Old Sunset Trail in Hyde Park where Gene Hackman, 95 and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64 and a dog were found deceased,” it says.

Gene Hackman, has received two Academy Awards for his work on the movies, The French Connection and Unforgiven.
The actor has also won a best actor Oscar for his role as Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle in William Friedkin’s 1971 thriller, The French Connection.
Born in California in 1930, into the Hackman family, Gene enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served for four-and-a-half years after lying about his age at 16.

The actor lived and worked in New York where he studied Journalism and television production at the University of Illinois, before moving back to pursue his childhood acting dream.
“When I saw those actors, I felt I could do that. But I was in New York for about eight years before I had a job. I sold ladies’ shoes, polished leather furniture, and drove a truck,” the late actor stated.
Hackman began to make waves in 1970, following his lead role in New York City detective Jimmy ‘Popeye’ Doyle in The French Connection.
In 2008, the Oscar winner told Reuters that despite an unofficial statement, he was “not going to act any longer,” taking a bow from the big screen.
