EMOTIONS CLOUDED MY JUDGEMENT-DAVIDO

Davido
Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has retracted his earlier criticism of the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abba, following violent clashes in the state.
The singer had initially accused the police of failing to maintain law and order during the crisis, which erupted over the weekend.
The unrest stemmed from an attempt by sacked local government chairmen under the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reclaim office despite a court ruling removing them.
In a statement released on Monday night, Davido admitted that emotions had influenced his judgment.
“Further review of political developments in Osun State revealed more facts, including several genuine efforts by state security agencies, particularly the Commissioner of Police. The bloodshed today infuriated me so much that I heaped all the blame on the Commissioner of Police,” he wrote.
He acknowledged his hasty reaction, recognizing that the role of the police was more complex than he initially assumed.
“I now see that the issue goes beyond the Commissioner of Police or other security chiefs. The needless killings of today angered me so deeply that I felt they should have been prevented.
However, I now understand that the security agencies, led by the Commissioner of Police, put in their best efforts and deserve commendation,” he added.
Davido admitted his failure to fully appreciate the commissioner and his team’s dedication and sleepless efforts to maintain peace in the state.
“In memory of the innocent souls lost, human emotions overwhelmed me and many of my friends. We did not realize the Commissioner of Police had been working tirelessly alongside other commanders.
At that moment, I did not fully acknowledge his contributions. This was a grave oversight, and I now recognize and appreciate his commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining peace in Osun State,” he stated.
The singer also extended his condolences to the grieving families and urged security agencies to strengthen their peacekeeping efforts in the state.
